III. Overview of the Smart Agriculture IoT Solution

The West Smart Agriculture Solution is based on wireless communication technologies such as Zigbee/NB-IoT/LoRa. Utilizing West Intelligence's smart gateways and wireless connectivity devices equipped with corresponding sensors (e.g., air temperature and humidity sensors, CO2 concentration sensors), it collects environmental parameters in real-time, including air temperature and humidity, soil temperature and humidity, CO2 concentration, light intensity, and PH value. The system can automatically activate, deactivate, or remotely control designated equipment. It can be processed as needed by users, providing a scientific basis for the automatic monitoring of comprehensive ecological information in facility agriculture, as well as for environmental automatic control and intelligent management.

Furthermore, by connecting different sensors to the West Intelligence hardware platform according to varying customer application scenarios, the solution can be adapted for diverse applications, including agricultural greenhouses, forestry, and aquaculture.

IV. West Smart Agriculture IoT Hardware Solution

Based on the data transmission structure of the entire system, the architecture can be divided into four parts: Perception Layer, Transmission Layer, Application Layer, and User Terminal:

  1. Perception Layer: Primarily consists of environmental information collection devices and automatic control equipment, including air temperature and humidity monitoring, soil information monitoring, meteorological information monitoring, and video information collection.
  2. Transmission Layer: Mainly comprises the data transmission network, including smart gateways and wireless connectivity devices independently developed by West.
  3. Application Layer: Primarily includes scenario applications such as agricultural greenhouses, forestry, and aquaculture.
  4. User Terminal: Mainly involves information release and intelligent data processing, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, PCs, etc.

V. Example: Agricultural Greenhouse IoT Solution

The Smart Agricultural Greenhouse System consists of Shunzhou's self-developed smart gateways based on Zigbee/NB-IoT/LoRa, wireless transmission devices, wireless data acquisition devices, and matched sensors (air temperature/humidity, soil temperature/humidity, soil PH, light intensity, CO2), cameras, as well as heating, irrigation, ventilation, curtain rolling equipment along with their supporting PLCs and other device servers.

VI. Functions of the Smart Agriculture Control System

1. Real-time Data Monitoring

Devices such as air temperature/humidity sensors, soil temperature/humidity sensors, soil PH sensors, photosynthetically active radiation sensors, and CO2 sensors installed at designated monitoring points collect real-time data on air temperature/humidity, CO2 concentration, soil temperature/humidity, PH value, etc.

2. Real-time Data Transmission

Shunzhou wireless data transmission devices send the collected data to the monitoring center in real-time via smart gateways through the wireless network, ensuring data timeliness and accuracy.

3. Intelligent Linkage Control

The linkage control system consists of heating, irrigation, ventilation, curtain rolling equipment, along with their supporting PLCs and Wifi device servers. When environmental data collected by sensors exceeds the critical range compared to standard values, the controller automatically activates relevant hardware devices to heat, water, ventilate, or adjust light radiation via curtains, achieving precise control over the crop growth environment.

4. Visualization of the Growing Environment

The smart agriculture information display screen, composed of spliced LCD panels, is used to present environmental data collected by various sensors within the agricultural greenhouse and live scene footage.

5. Platform Software Remote Control

All system data is stored on the cloud platform. The platform can perform intelligent processing on the collected data by establishing analytical models to optimize crop cultivation.
