ZigBee Positioning for Rapid Product Location in Medical Laboratories

Project Background Overview

The experimental base of a renowned multinational medical device enterprise in Shanghai is responsible for the R&D and quality testing of products sold nationwide under its brand. As the production of medical devices involves high-precision products, each new product requires repeated testing during development. These R&D films circulate among various laboratory rooms, making them extremely difficult to locate when needed. Each search required manually checking every laboratory, consuming significant time and wasting human resources. By utilizing our company's ZigBee-based positioning data and the audible/visual alarm reminder function of tags, the entire flow and movement trajectory of each film across laboratories can be monitored in real-time. To locate a specific film, simply searching for its model number allows for quick identification of its position within the corresponding laboratory on the software map, significantly enhancing the R&D workflow management efficiency for this enterprise.

Current Management Pain Points

• All experimental films appear identical; distinguishing them requires physically handling and checking the model number.

ZigBee-Based Positioning Solution

To address the aforementioned difficulties in locating items, enhance real-time monitoring of the R&D process, and enable quick and convenient searches—even allowing for rapid location via audible/visual alerts from called tags in indoor corners—the enterprise deployed Hainan Shidian's ZigBee positioning WiFi base stations in all its laboratory rooms. Simultaneously, each experimental film was affixed with a corresponding audible/visual positioning tag. By binding the film's name and model number to the ZigBee tag ID in the upper-layer application platform, the real-time location and flow of each film can be monitored. When searching for a specific film, entering its name or model number quickly displays its location coordinates on the corresponding laboratory map. Product Application Introduction

• Install WiFi card-reading base stations in each laboratory room.
