ZigBee Positioning for Personnel Location Safety Applications in Electronic Laboratories

Industrial Solutions 2025-12-18 60 views

I. Project Background Overview

The High-Voltage Electronics Laboratory is responsible for undertaking the company's product development and testing activities. While there are specified standards for personnel safety protection in the lab, our company's ZigBee-based positioning data combined with dual-frequency tags enable comprehensive monitoring of mobile locations and trajectories within the electronics laboratory. Through software-designed logic, when the number of personnel falls below the safe threshold, relay devices are triggered to cut off the power supply, thereby achieving the management objective of protecting personnel safety. This significantly enhances personnel safety management in the enterprise's high-voltage electronics laboratory.

II. Current Management Pain Points

  • Frequent entry and exit of laboratory personnel; conventional institutional management still cannot fully eliminate electrical hazards.
  • The number of personnel working during the laboratory's safe operating periods cannot be promptly and effectively counted in real-time.

III. ZigBee-Based Positioning Solution

To address the aforementioned challenges and improve personnel safety protection in the high-voltage electronics laboratory, personnel tags from West Electric Technology are attached to insulated rubber-soled shoes. These tags also feature motion monitoring functionality. West Electric card reader base stations and antennas are installed on the laboratory ceiling and in external corridors. When personnel wearing the tagged shoes enter the laboratory, the card reader base stations read the distance values from the tags to the base stations and report the quantity information to the location server. The location server calculates the tag position data and quantity, displaying it within the software. Through software-designed logic, when the number of personnel falls below the safe threshold, relay devices are triggered to cut off the power supply, thereby achieving the management objective of protecting personnel safety.

➲ Product Application Introduction

  • Install several West Electric card reader base stations and antennas on the laboratory ceiling and in external corridors.
  • Attach personnel tags from Hainan West Electric to insulated rubber-soled shoes. These tags also feature motion monitoring functionality.
  • Configure the positioning location server, binding personnel names and shoes to tag IDs.
  • All electronics laboratories are connected within the same local area network via Ethernet cables. Wired network card reader base stations communicate via Ethernet cables.
  • When personnel wearing the tagged shoes enter the laboratory, the card reader base stations read the distance values from the tags to the base stations and report the quantity information to the location server. The location server calculates the tag position data and quantity, displaying it within the software.
  • Through software-designed logic, when the number of personnel falls below the safe threshold, relay devices are triggered to cut off the power supply, thereby achieving the management objective of protecting personnel safety.
