I. Industry Status and Demand

Tunnel infrastructure construction often suffers from insufficient management and difficulty in monitoring every detail. Influenced by factors such as the complexity of engineering geology and hydrogeology, the complexity of the surrounding environment (buildings, roads, pipelines, etc.), and the relatively low professional quality of construction personnel, accidents occur frequently. Tunnel construction faces significant management challenges. Therefore, to prevent accidents and enable effective and rapid rescue of trapped personnel after an incident occurs, advanced positioning technology can be utilized for operational control.

Pain Point 1: The traditional management model involves counting personnel entering and exiting the tunnel via turnstiles at the entrance and viewing real-time operations via cameras near the tunnel face. It is impossible to accurately grasp the actual location of personnel working inside the tunnel, and headcount statistics are prone to errors and omissions.

Demand 1: Utilize UWB positioning technology to obtain the precise real-time location of personnel and accurately count the number of personnel in various areas within the tunnel.

Pain Point 2: Limited personnel distress call functionality. When personnel encounter emergencies, they can only call for help via emergency phones.

Demand 2: Enhance the distress call function. When personnel encounter emergencies, they can quickly call for help via the SOS button on the positioning tag.

Pain Point 3: Limited warning functionality. The traditional warning method is notification via broadcast.

Demand 3: Issue warnings that cause the positioning tags worn by personnel to vibrate, alerting specific individuals or quickly alerting all personnel, complementing broadcasts to achieve precise warning functionality.

Pain Point 4: The statistics for personnel attendance information are cumbersome, and accuracy cannot be guaranteed.

Demand 4: Adopt positioning technology to achieve precise attendance statistics, reducing the workload of manual tallying. Integrate with turnstiles to improve data accuracy.

Pain Point 5: Monitoring the distance between the tunnel face advance and the secondary lining trolley relies on manual measurement, resulting in low work efficiency.

Demand 5: Adopt positioning technology to enable monitoring of the step distance between the tunnel face and the secondary lining trolley, replacing manual measurement.

Pain Point 6: The tunnel construction environment is harsh and arduous, with high-risk job types, numerous personnel and vehicles. It is impossible to grasp the working status of construction personnel and vehicle locations within the tunnel in real-time.

Demand 6: Utilize UWB positioning technology to enable monitoring of employee work status and vehicle distribution. By establishing an intelligent management platform integrating "location information + area warning + data statistics + emergency rescue," the management and operational capabilities of tunnel construction can be significantly enhanced.

II. Overall Solution Architecture

The system includes UWB tags, UWB high-power positioning base stations, positioning engine software (C/S architecture), and a positioning application system. UWB high-power positioning base stations are connected to nearby switches via PoE modules, and switches are interconnected via wireless bridges or fiber optics.

III. On-site Deployment

Based on the tunnel area the user needs to cover, combined with drawings and on-site surveys, feasible deployment plans are evaluated. Once the plan is reviewed and approved by relevant parties, the construction phase begins (the integrator is responsible for construction and installation, with guidance from Hainan Shidian for installation and debugging).

Application Platform Software and Large Screen Display

Real-time Location and Personnel Statistics:

  • Accurately locate personnel within the tunnel and display detailed information of personnel by job type and their distance from the tunnel entrance.
  • Integrate the UWB positioning system with the tunnel access management system to provide real-time statistics on the number of people in the tunnel, at the tunnel face, at the secondary lining area, etc.
  • Set safety step distances based on rock mass classification. Issue alarm prompts when the safety step distance for tunnel construction exceeds the threshold.
